Turkey: 10 day motorcycle tour in Western Turkey

Dates: Tour operates from Friday 3 September to Sunday 12 September 2010.

Flights: The tour starts and finishes in Istanbul. Take advantage of numerous flight options ranging from Easyjet’s budget flights to BA business class.

Price: From £1995 per person* not including flights.

Motorcycles: The latest BMW F650GS (800 cc) and R1200 GS motorbikes are at our disposal.

Group: Min 10 plus tour leader, support vehicle and driver.

Hotels: 3* & 4* hotels for 9 nights.

The ride: This is a motorcycle road tour of Western Turkey with time to enjoy the beautiful scenery, renowned Turkish hospitality and delicious cuisine. Road conditions are generally good and the BMW’s are perfect for a ride that encompasses fast ‘A’ roads, quiet rural back roads and winding mountain passes. The journey takes you along the coast and through small mountain villages, stopping along the way at ancient sites and coastal towns. Spring’s weather will be great for riding – not too hot and dusty – with wild flowers and blossom lining the mountain roads.

Tour Route: Leave Istanbul’s bazaars and minarets to ride down the Aegean Coast; riding alongside the ancient ruins of lost empires, past vast lakes and through fertile valleys. Visit Gallipoli, the legendary city of Troy, and the magnificent Roman city of Ephesus. At Bodrum, on the Mediterranean coast, relax on the beach or try the variety of water sports on offer. The lively waterfront is dotted with restaurants and bars. On the Turquoise coast spend a night on the tiny island of Kekova taking a boat ride to see the submerged city of ancient Simena, before heading inland and onto rural back roads. Share the road with donkeys as we ride through sleepy villages nestled beneath the rugged peaks of the Taurus Mountains, returning to Istanbul for a farewell meal and a cruise along the Bosphorus.
