Great Motorcycle Tours is owned and managed by Colette Coleman, author of Great Motorcycle Journeys of the World an inspirational guide to riding motorcycles abroad. Over 20 years of overseas motorcycling experience and a knowledge base gained from 10 years working for adventure tour operators has helped develop the concept of Great Motorcycle Tours.
Colette has explored many countries by motorcycle, including Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Costs Rica and Morocco. She has owned numerous motorcycles over the years starting at age 16 with a Yamaha FS1-E. Her current bikes are a Kawasaki Versys and a Honda XR250.
Following a two year overland motorcycle expedition through Europe and Asia to Australia, Colette formed part of the team that contributed to Chris Scott’s very first 1997 edition of the Adventure Motorcycle Handbook now considered the ‘bible’ for overland motorcyclists. In 2007 she wrote Great Motorcycle Journeys of the World, a guide featuring 40 motorcycle tours that can be ridden in an average 2-3 week holiday.

In addition to writing brochure text and promotional literature for adventure travel companies Colette has written motorcycle features for Summit hotels magazine, The Telegraph, Motorcycle Rider (BMF magazine) and Honda Dream magazine.
Colette worked as a product manager for several of the UK’s leading action and adventure tour operators; developing and operating adventure tours across six continents. She managed a portfolio of destinations ranging from walking tours of Eastern Europe to overland expeditions in Asia and the Middle East. Her profession has taken her to North Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, Russia, Mongolia and China contributing to a vast working knowledge of designing and operating professionally managed exciting adventure tours.
It is this wealth of tour operator experience that Colette brings to the company. Added to this, a lifetime passion and hands on experience of motorcycle touring which ranges from off road fun on a Honda XR 250 in Central America to year-long expeditions through Asia on a BMW GS. Despite having tried just about every form of transport from camel to Trans-Siberian train Colette is still convinced that the motorcycle remains, without doubt, the very best form of transport on which to explore the world!
